Netflix Subtitle Converter

Watch Netflix streaming movies with subtitlesI've finished version 1.3.1 of a mac OS X .srt to .dfxp subtitle converter for use with Netflix Instant streaming. Currently (in the US) Netflix only has about 100 movies with Closed Captioning/Subtitles. In Netflix Canada there are few movies with subtitles. To display .dfxp captions in Netflix, you have to hit CTRL-Option-Shift-M (mac) or CTRL-Alt-Shift-M (pc), and select 'Load custom dfxp' - select the .dfxp subtitle file and continue playing the movie. One site has a lot of subtitles just for Netflix - click to visit. However, for the movies they don't have .dfxp subs for, you'll be able to create your own from .srt subtitles. Rather than wait a few more years (or decades) for Netflix to catch up and provide captions for all their movies, I looked at the difference between .srt (subrip) and .dfxp subtitles, then created a program that would convert from .srt to .dfxp format. The program also allows you to adjust the timing of the subtitles, and to save them as subrip (.srt) as well for use in other programs. For more details on this, and to download the subtitle converter, see the entry on my production blog.
